June 2021

My friend and I went on greentors one day navigation course in June 21.  We are both walkers but not confident map readers so we attended the course so that we can extend our walking range to less well known paths.

It was an excellent day, Tom found out what we wanted from the day’s course and delivered. We had a lot of fun with the exercises he set us they were simple but very effective in conveying their message. He covered simple compass work, distance pacing and how to use the maps and its symbols to see exactly where you are on the ground.  We then had a great walk putting this into practice.  His enthusiasm for the outdoors and teaching others is great and makes for a very enjoyable and useful day.

We would highly recommend for anyone wishing to learn more about map reading and walking.  We hope to take the second part of the course sometime soon.

The whole course was presented in a professional and friendly manner, the explanations were clear and all the practical exercises were challenging, interesting and fun. I was impressed at how you had planned the materials and exercises and adapted to having a 10 year old join the course! It was great that she was able to participate fully and you managed to pitch all the exercises at the right level so it was all useful, challenging and enjoyable for all ages, something which I think is quite difficult to achieve. She loved every minute of it and came away full of enthusiasm and inspiration.
